Lifestyle Newborn Session – Pittsburgh

Lifestyle newborn sessions are some of my favorites to photograph. This type of session takes places in your home where you feel most comfortable! Plus, adding a newborn to the mix makes it harder to get out the door, so it just makes sense for me to come to you! The added perk of the sessions I offer; you can choose to add onto your lifestyle session and I will bring the studio to you and get those sweet and cozy shots of your baby all wrapped up like my family from today’s session chose!

The beautiful family I worked with today was a last-minute booking! Yep, they reached out just this week, and I am so thrilled that they did. While getting on a calendar before the baby is born is helpful, I can usually squeeze families in.

While prepping for the session, mom sent me some inspiration shots for images she was hoping to get. It may sound odd, but I love when families do this! 1. It tells me the vibe the family is going for and 2. If I haven’t tried a specific shot before it gives me a chance to change things up a bit. While most everything she sent were shots I already do, baby is always the big variable. Some shots just work better when baby is super sleepy! So, if you have an alert or even fussy baby it just may not happen. I made sure to let mom know this and she completely understood.

When I arrived at the session, little guy was awake after just being fed but he quickly settled into a deep sleep. He settled in so much so that I had to keep adjusting him back where I needed him because he was so relaxed! With the exception of a few dinosaur noises and a couple of startles, he was pure Jello! We were able to get ALL of the inspiration shots that mama shared plus quite a bit more!

The last shot we needed to get was a wide awake – looking at the camera shot during his wrapped session! This one I was 99% sure we would not get. Usually if I place a wrapped baby into a basket while they are awake there is definitely some squirming and/or they just stare at my giant studio light. Not this guy! As soon as I set him down he instantly looked into the camera and the very first “wrapped” shot was the exact one we needed! After that came my favorite part – rocking him to sleep so I could get the rest of the wrapped images!!

While this doesn’t happen all of the time, it was definitely a welcome experience. And please know that even if your little one needs a few extra feeds or more time to settle, I am always prepared to do things on their terms!

Because I get so excited to see what we got from a session, here are some sneak peeks from this morning’s newborn session!!
