From Maternity at Mellon Park to an In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Session

Pregnancy and the arrival of a newborn are moments that pass in the blink of an eye, but the memories of these special times can last forever. I am always honored when I get to work with a family for these two special sessions. Today I am sharing images from one family's gorgeous maternity session at Pittsburgh's Mellon Park as well as their Lifestyle+Wrapped newborn session.

The Magic of an Outdoor Maternity Session at Mellon Park

Mellon Park, with its walled garden, historic architecture, and serene outdoor spaces, is a perfect place for a maternity session. The family chose this iconic Pittsburgh location for their maternity shoot because of its charm and the endless backdrops the park provides for their session.

Soft, golden-hour sunlight peeked through the changing leaves, adding a timeless quality to the images. As this is the couple's first baby, we had time to leisurely walk through the park and find the most beautiful backdrops to showcase the couple and the growing bump! The couple were naturals in front of the camera and mom's ballet background added a whole new level to their images!

Once their session was over and the images were delivered, the next step was to sit back and wait for their baby to arrive!

The Comfort of Home

Fast forward just a couple months, and their sweet little guy has arrived! While there are options for families if they prefer a studio, this family opted for an in-home session as it allowed them to be in the most relaxed environment. Sessions in your own home allow me to capture authentic moments in the spaces you are the most comfortable. The spaces you are building a life in.

Winter is always a little tricky when you factor in possible bad weather. While the family chose to wait a little longer than the standard 2 weeks for their session, it got pushed back even more as the forecast just wasn't cooperating. Thankfully it was only a few extra days, and I was able to make it (still on a snowy day!) There is something about those babies that are just a tiny bit older. Thier faces and bodies are a little more filled out and they are already figuring out a routine which seems to help them feel more relaxed. While this little guy spent some time awake during his session, he was very cooperative when it was time to rock him to sleep for some of my favorite shots that are full of snuggles between the parents and baby.

This is just the start of a new chapter for this family, and I am looking forward to watching and capturing moments as their family continues to grow.
