Lifestyle Newborn Session - Pittsburgh

This sweet family was just one of the first sessions of 2023 and I am so excited for what the rest of the year has to offer!

I first met this couple in December for their maternity session. We had a great time at Peter's Lake and I was non stop gushing over the connection they had as a couple. Maternity sessions are a great way to not only document such a beautiful time in your life but also to get to know the couple before baby arrives (similar to doing an engagement shoot before your wedding).

Their newborn session happened to be on the coldest day of the year so far and I was very happy with myself for having the forethought to clean the snow off my car earlier in the week!

Much like their maternity session, the connection was just there and it was so fun to capture. This may have been the first time also that mama got visibly teary eyed when I showed her some of the images from the back of the camera! Baby was EXTRA sleepy and the session flowed seamlessly between the nursery and parents room and we even were able to use the dads cradle from when he was a baby for the "crib" shots!

From the lifestyle portion straight into the wrapped portion was such an easily transition. Baby was still sleepy but we did the suggested feed just to be sure and we moved right into wrapping. Those early days of having a newborn are tough and your sleep is not only broken up all night but its sometimes non existent. Baby was such a good sport I didn't need the parents to step in and spot for me at all so they were able to cuddle on the couch and get lulled to a relaxed state by my sound machine!
